Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Specialist to join our team at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. As a Medical Office Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our patient registration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviews and Verifies Patient Information: Conduct thorough interviews with patients and/or family members to obtain accurate financial and demographic information, and verify patient insurance through our online eligibility system.
  • Processes Patient Accounts: Determine patient liability and collect any amount due from the patient, and complete all necessary forms required by governmental or commercial payers.
  • Provides Excellent Customer Service: Greet and assist patients, interact with visitors, physician's office staff, physicians, and other employees in a professional and courteous manner, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Supports Registration Operations: Cross-train to other registration areas to ensure efficient and knowledgeable coverage, and relocate to other locations as needed to meet patient volume demands.
  • Maintains Knowledge and Compliance: Stay up-to-date on procedures and policies, and adhere to all departmental policies and procedures, including uniform requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: Previous clerical or customer service experience
  • Skills: Proven track record of excellent customer service skills, ability to navigate computer systems (Microsoft Office, registration systems, EPIC), good typing skills/data entry skills, good interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
