Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Leader is tasked with strategizing and executing preventative maintenance, overseeing equipment and facility repairs, and enhancements through proficient management of both internal and external maintenance resources. This role also encompasses the responsibility of upholding and initiating all health, safety, and environmental standards, managing projects within allocated budgets and timelines, and supervising the training and development needs of maintenance team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the maintenance department's activities to guarantee that all plant equipment is serviced and repaired with minimal downtime.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance for all machinery and ensure adherence to the schedule.
  • Coordinate priority maintenance scheduling with production needs in collaboration with department managers and production planning.
  • Enforce all safety protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintain building security at all times.
  • Establish vendor relationships as necessary, solicit bids, approve bids (in close collaboration with procurement), and supervise and inspect work to ensure quality standards.
  • Manage departmental budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for reliability and maintenance.
  • Oversee asset productivity enhancement programs focusing on uptime, mechanical integrity, and reliability engineering.
  • Manage the MRO room to ensure inventory accuracy and the availability of essential machine parts.
  • Supervise janitorial resources and facility services, including grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure the provision of adequate catering and vending services.
  • Execute special projects as required.
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Talent management - the ability and desire to nurture the growth of team members. Responsible for personnel reviews, skills assessments, training oversight, and recruitment.
  • A results-oriented individual with a proven track record in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to manage broader objectives.

  • Proficient in motivating, communicating, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Solid planning, leadership, and administrative skills.
  • Strong expertise in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma, with the capability to lead kaizen initiatives focused on TPM, uptime, and safety.
  • Able to cultivate and promote effective 6S practices within the maintenance team and department.
Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Engineering, Technical Field, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Maintenance Engineering; experience in wire and cable manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading high-performance work teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with process control and new product introduction technologies.
  • Proven project management expertise.
  • Strong background in Lean Sigma Tools implementation is preferred.
