Position Objective:
The role involves inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems at various facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and perform troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems to identify necessary repairs. Estimate time and material costs for assigned tasks. Disassemble equipment to access and repair defective components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices. Reassemble and test equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Inspect flow meters, gauges, and related controls, diagnosing basic operational issues and taking corrective actions as per established procedures. Report any suspected malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on machinery, including pumps, engines, and generators. Report any operational issues promptly.
- Fabricate devices and assemblies from steel as needed, including welding and threading pipe.
- Calibrate portable meters for various measurements including dissolved oxygen and pH levels.
- Maintain facilities by repairing or replacing damaged components such as windows, doors, and tiles.
- Engage in manual labor to clean equipment and facilities, ensuring proper waste disposal in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Assist in maintaining parts inventory and may support other areas of the facility as directed.
- Provide orientation or training to new or less experienced maintenance staff.
Work Environment:
Employees will spend 100% of their time in an operational setting, with exposure to outdoor conditions and potential hazards including fumes, dust, and rotating machinery.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending English.
- Two to five years of relevant experience in a similar environment.
Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should possess strong mathematical skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret data from various instruments. Proficiency in using personal protective equipment and performing tasks accurately and efficiently is essential.
Certifications:
Required certifications include a minimum water/wastewater license as mandated by regulatory bodies, a valid driver's license, and completion of safety and operational training.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various positions, including heights and confined spaces.
