Position Summary

The ideal candidate will have a background in Solar Operations & Maintenance or experience as a residential or small commercial solar installer, foreman, or electrician who is passionate about the efficiency of renewable energy systems. This role is perfect for those looking to advance their career in Solar Operations and Maintenance. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of solar assets, monitoring their performance, diagnosing issues, and coordinating maintenance teams from our central office.

The Solar O&M Supervisor will report directly to the Director of Construction and O&M and collaborate closely with the COO and Asset Management team to oversee the performance of our expanding fleet of solar systems.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Monitoring and Coordination:

  • Proactively monitor the solar systems under our management, identifying those that are underperforming and prioritizing repairs and optimizations that yield the greatest benefits relative to costs.
  • Coordinate maintenance personnel to address repairs and enhancements for identified systems.
  • Develop and implement operational and maintenance procedures that comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and technical knowledge.

Maintenance Oversight:

  • Schedule and manage maintenance personnel for both routine and urgent maintenance tasks.
  • Assist third-party maintenance providers in diagnosing complex technical issues as needed.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to site emergencies, including outside of regular working hours, adhering to safety protocols.
  • In certain situations, procure necessary parts and materials to resolve technical challenges when third-party providers are unable to assist directly.

Client Relations:

  • As Redball owns systems that are installed on the properties of others, we prioritize hiring individuals who can communicate effectively and respectfully with stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are conducted with minimal disruption.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of solar electric systems, including PV modules, inverters, racking, and other components.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on timely resolution of issues.
  • Familiarity with SolarEdge or Enphase platforms, or other PV monitoring tools.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical concepts with the ability to remotely monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain a fleet of PV assets.
  • Candidates must reside in the Washington, DC Metro Area.

  • Competitive starting salary in the range of 60-80k per year, based on experience and qualifications, along with a potential 20% annual performance bonus.
