Solar Product Manager

Position Overview

The Solar Product Manager will oversee the complete lifecycle of our solar solutions, from initial idea to market introduction and beyond. This position necessitates a thorough understanding of solar technology, industry trends, and customer requirements, alongside exceptional project management and communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Research and Development team to formulate and implement a robust product strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and market needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to uncover emerging trends, assess competitive positioning, and gauge customer preferences.
  • Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams, including engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, to orchestrate successful product launches.
  • Guide the organization through product introductions by adhering to our New Product Introduction Process while actively seeking feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of solar products, from conception through to end-of-life, including launches, updates, and phase-outs.
  • Engage closely with sales and marketing teams to collect customer insights, comprehend market dynamics, and drive enhancements to products.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., UL 61730, IEC) and coordinate any necessary third-party reliability or performance assessments.
  • Evaluate product performance metrics, sales data, and customer feedback to assess product success and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, marketing, finance, engineering, and operations to promote product success and achieve business goals.
  • Partner with finance and supply chain teams to conduct cost analyses and develop comprehensive business cases for future products, continuously assessing product profitability post-launch.
  • Identify ongoing opportunities to minimize product costs and enhance profitability.
  • Participate in selecting strategic suppliers for components and materials.
  • Regularly evaluate market competition by comparing our products with those of competitors.
  • Work with sales and marketing to create and maintain product marketing materials for online platforms, in-person sales, and technical conferences/trade shows.
  • Support the Sales and Marketing team in nurturing customer relationships for current and future products.
  • Maintain professional and technical expertise by attending industry conferences/trade shows, reviewing relevant publications, establishing networks, and engaging in professional organizations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of solar products and technology.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong project management abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and efficiently allocating resources.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and tight timelines.
  • Familiarity with solar industry standards and regulations, such as IEC and UL certifications, is advantageous.
