About Cashion Cultural Legacy

Cashion Cultural Legacy (CCL) is a dynamic nonprofit organization located in San José, California, dedicated to the celebration and preservation of Mexican folk culture through the medium of dance. CCL proudly supports two distinguished performing groups, Los Lupeños de San José and Los Lupeños Juvenil, along with the community-oriented Los Lupeños Academy, which provides accessible dance education to all interested individuals.

Building on the legacy of the esteemed Dr. Susan V. Cashion, CCL promotes cultural exchange between California and México, fostering creativity and artistic excellence through its innovative Artist Exchange program. With an emerging Publications initiative, CCL is committed to broadening its influence and outreach, sharing the beauty and diversity of Mexican folklórico dance with a global audience.

Role Summary

The Executive Director (ED) will spearhead the organization during a pivotal phase of growth and transformation, overseeing a team of 3 full-time and 11 part-time staff members, as well as managing an operational budget of $680,000. In collaboration with the Board and Artistic Director, the ED will formulate and execute the strategic vision, guiding program development and community engagement initiatives while ensuring financial sustainability through effective fundraising strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the organization's strategic plan and annual action plans in collaboration with the board.
  • Program Development and Management: Design, implement, and oversee programs and services that align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
  • Fundraising and Development: Work with the board to devise and manage fundraising strategies; diversify revenue streams and oversee financial management.
  • Leadership and Management: Inspire and develop the professional team; facilitate hiring processes and conduct staff evaluations.
  • Community Engagement: Cultivate effective relationships within the community to ensure representation of Mexican dance and related arts.
  • Advocacy: Act as the chief spokesperson for CCL, promoting the value of the arts in enhancing quality of life and garnering community support.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for dance, arts, and culture.
  • A bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business, the arts, or a related field; a master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in management roles.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills; proven ability to motivate and develop staff and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area arts community and experience in collaborative work with diverse stakeholders.
  • A successful track record in fundraising and donor relations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a visionary mindset.
  • Sound financial, accounting, marketing, and program development skills.
  • Experience in grassroots or cultural arts organizations is a plus.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is an asset.
  • A valid California driver's license with appropriate insurance coverage.
