Despite being located in one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, Santa Clara County faces significant poverty challenges, and the availability of services can be inconsistent. Catholic Charities has been a leader in providing essential safety net services for over four decades and is now poised to implement a strategic plan, 'Footsteps: Pathways to Self-Sufficiency,' aimed at creating a systematic and scalable community change initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the 'Footsteps' vision, ensuring operational focus and managing a diverse portfolio of human services programs.
- Act as the primary representative of the organization to stakeholders, including funders and community partners, while actively promoting the agency's mission and impact.
The CEO will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, which includes the Bishop of the Diocese of San Jose, and will be supported by a skilled Senior Executive Team. The organization employs approximately 560 staff members, reflecting a diverse workforce.
Essential Functions
Leadership & Culture
- Develop a deep understanding of the agency's mission and programs, fostering collaborative relationships across all levels.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and teamwork, ensuring a supportive environment for staff and volunteers.
- Inspire and guide the Senior Leadership Team towards achieving organizational goals while maintaining transparent communication.
Financial Oversight
- Ensure efficient administration of day-to-day operations and programs, making informed decisions based on data and stakeholder input.
- Maintain the organization's financial health, ensuring sustainable funding and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Program Development
- Champion high-quality programming and manage the agency's program portfolio to maximize impact.
- Identify and address service gaps while promoting innovative approaches to program development.
Fundraising & External Relations
- Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to enhance fundraising efforts and build relationships with key donors.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, advocating for clients and promoting visibility within the community.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will embody the principles of servant leadership and possess a comprehensive understanding of poverty, social services, and equity. Key qualifications include:
- A minimum of 10 years of executive leadership experience in complex organizational settings.
- Proven track record in financial management and fundraising.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
