Position Summary: The Community Engagement Coordinator will act as a vital link between the museum and various community-based organizations, facilitating culturally relevant programs and educational initiatives throughout the year. This role encompasses a variety of events such as Career Connections, Girls in STEM, Curiosity Stations, and celebrations of cultural recognition months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective communication with partner organizations and volunteers, overseeing all programming-related tasks and collaborations with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Promote student involvement during events, including the facilitation of educational content as necessary.
  • Supervise a team of facilitators, including Education Associates and temporary staff, coordinating daily activities and outcomes.
  • Ensure collaboration across departments to enhance programming efforts.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local schools and community groups involved in educational programming, ensuring that educational key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
  • Coordinate requests for support from internal partners, which may involve providing information for marketing materials or collaborating on design and production tasks.
  • Work with various departments and external partners to organize on-site and off-site programming, providing necessary communication support.
  • Engage in research and support the development of new educational programs in collaboration with department managers and coordinators.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and effective delivery methods in educational STEAM content.
  • Monitor and analyze program attendance and assessment data to inform improvements in existing programming.
  • Manage departmental schedules and program coordination.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two to four years of experience in youth or public program design, facilitation, and management is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational and resource management skills are essential.
  • Exceptional collaboration abilities, particularly with diverse groups.
  • Proven public speaking skills, particularly in front of senior stakeholders.
  • Experience engaging audiences of various ages and backgrounds is necessary.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications; familiarity with project management tools like Asana is preferred.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform calculations related to program metrics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Physical requirements include regular use of hands, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to varying conditions, with a moderate noise level.
