Job Title: Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Industries. As a key member of our Submarine Engineering Advanced Capabilities team, you will play a critical role in the development of the next generation Fast-Attack Submarine Program, SSN(X).

Job Summary

The selected engineer will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation. This includes structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment, and maintenance designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling
  • Develop structural engineering specifications for product design or operation
  • Collaborate with teams of engineers and designers of varying disciplines
  • Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of structural design and analysis
  • Utilize software applications such as CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, and FEMAP
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 2 years of relevant exempt experience or Master's Degree with 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of submarine requirements in engineering and design of deck structures, foundations, and platform arrangements
  • Ability to learn and operate older government-provided software, such as FORTRAN
  • A SECRET clearance
