About the Role

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Control Plane Engineer to join our team of innovative engineers. As a key member of our Distributed System Engineering group, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and testing the Control Plane required for the Cisco 8000 platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software solutions for the Control Plane using C, C++, and/or Python.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the Control Plane with other network components.
  • Develop and maintain routing protocol stacks in vendor NOS or open-source networking stacks like FRR, Quagga.
  • Work closely with network architects to design and implement network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, etc.
Requirements
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software development and network protocol engineering.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, software development principles, and computer architecture.
  • Experience with MPLS based VPNs (MVPN, L3VPN, L2VPN) and Segment Routing, L2VPN, and EVPN technologies.
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) principles, Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and related technologies.
