Job Summary

The City of San Diego is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Public Utilities Department, you will be responsible for administering and supervising the Automation and Process Control group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Department Information Network (DIN), Facility Information Network (FIN), and Process Information Network (PIN)
  • Review designs and standardization of control systems within and between facilities
  • Evaluate and oversee the design, development, implementation, and testing of systems related to area of responsibility
  • Develop and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Prepare reports and correspondence
  • Interview, train, evaluate, and rate subordinates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time professional industrial engineering project management experience with supervisory and managerial duties
  • Registration as a Professional Control Systems Engineer with the State of California
  • Highly desirable: one year of full-time professional experience in a water/wastewater control system environment
  • Experience with Emerson Ovation, AVEVA Wonderware, or WDPF DCS technologies, application hardware/software
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA, and PC technologies
  • Experience with and knowledge of Industrial Controls CyberSecurity procedures and NIST Standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with and knowledge of Industrial Controls CyberSecurity procedures and NIST Standards
  • Experience with and knowledge of process control systems and automation technologies
  • Experience with and knowledge of industrial engineering principles and practices
