Position Overview

MTS Systems is in search of a Staff Accountant who possesses meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, a self-motivated attitude, and a collaborative spirit. This role is integral to our accounting team based at our headquarters. The primary responsibilities include executing sales and use tax-related functions alongside various general accounting tasks.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of sales tax reports.
  • Management of tax notices, records, and returns for effective record-keeping.
  • Oversight of business licenses and relevant compliance documentation.
  • Ensuring adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act requirements.
  • Active participation in the month-end closing process, including journal entry preparation and discrepancy resolution.
  • Reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts.
  • Preparation of documentation to support both external and internal audits.
  • Collaboration across functions for assigned responsibilities and projects.
  • Support for internal and external audits and reviews.
  • Execution of additional accounting or analytical projects as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

- Fundamental knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and terminology

- Two years of experience in sales and use tax

- Advanced proficiency in Excel

- Relevant accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in a manufacturing environment

- Familiarity with major ERP systems, preferably SAP

- Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations is advantageous
