Position Overview

The Senior Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in delivering specialized accounting support to meet the objectives of the department and the organization. This role encompasses the collection, consolidation, and examination of financial data necessary for both internal and external reporting, fiscal planning, and evaluation of special projects. The individual may also oversee the activities of accounting personnel.

Key Responsibilities

The position demands a high level of expertise in professional accounting, including but not limited to the following duties:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis (50-55%)
  • Generate financial and managerial reports along with comprehensive supporting documentation.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of financial outcomes. Provide detailed summaries of financial statements.
  • Prepare schedules and assist external auditors to ensure the precision of information and adherence to established accounting standards and corporate policies.
  • Support the development of financial models.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets and forecasts as needed.
  1. General Ledger Accounting (30-35%)
  • Review and verify general ledger activities. Investigate and rectify any discrepancies identified.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements, including complex accounts.
  1. Additional Accounting Activities (20-25%)
  • Input and maintain transaction data for planning and project activities.
  • Recommend procedural and system enhancements to ensure efficient processing of accounting information.
  • May provide guidance and training to assigned accounting staff.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with accepted accounting principles.
  • May prepare tax documentation.
  • Cross-train to act as a backup for accounting personnel.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Execute responsibilities as directed, achieving desired outcomes within established time frames and with a high degree of quality and professionalism.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with all staff, clients, and business partners.
  • Exhibit the behavioral and technical competencies necessary to effectively fulfill job responsibilities. Take personal initiative for technical and professional growth.
  • Adhere to company HR policies, the Code of Business Conduct, and all subsidiary and departmental policies and procedures, including safeguarding confidential company information, maintaining punctuality, and following safety practices in all activities.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred; equivalent work experience and education will be considered.
Experience:
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis with proven proficiency in financial reporting, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and ad hoc reporting.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software, particularly Excel, with demonstrated experience in financial reporting and analysis tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a customer-service orientation, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Other Requirements:
  • CPA certification is preferred.
