Job Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a dedicated Financial Accountant to enhance our esteemed Business Services partner. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining comprehensive financial records that reflect the organization's assets, liabilities, income, tax obligations, and other financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts general cost accounting and related tasks for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains and updates the general ledger.
  • Processes invoices, establishes new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes monthly financial records.
  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations, verifies deposits, and resolves inquiries from financial institutions.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; oversees accounts receivable collections.
  • Ensures timely payment of invoices related to accounts payable and verifies that charges are allocated to the correct accounts.
  • Assists external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
  • Files tax documents with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Collaborates with software vendors to maintain and enhance accounting software systems.
  • Oversees the purchasing and invoicing processes.
  • Stays informed about accepted accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of general financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient in preparing tax reports accurately.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
