Senior Manager of Power Origination – (PPA & Commercial Contracts)
Leap29 is collaborating with a prominent renewables firm that boasts a robust portfolio of projects both in the United States and internationally. We are seeking a Senior Manager of Power Origination to spearhead initiatives aimed at securing sustainable revenue agreements for our clean energy assets in the U.S.
This position entails the identification and negotiation of contracts with various off-takers and will play a pivotal role within our U.S. leadership team. The ideal candidate will engage closely with both internal and external stakeholders to structure renewable energy deals across our solar, wind, and energy storage initiatives.
The role is primarily based in San Francisco, with flexibility for semi-remote work, especially for candidates situated in regions with significant project activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee PPA negotiations and manage a variety of commercial contracts for renewable energy and storage projects across multiple U.S. markets.
- Conduct thorough due diligence on acquisitions and greenfield projects.
- Successfully negotiate terms for off-take agreements, including PPAs, virtual PPAs, and alternative structures.
- Collaborate with executives on energy products, pricing strategies, and risk management initiatives.
- Provide strategic insights by analyzing market policies and the competitive landscape.
- Identify and pursue new off-take opportunities, respond to RFPs, and source bilateral agreements.
- Engage with utilities, large corporate clients, municipalities, and other potential off-take partners.
- Participate in industry conferences to network and explore project opportunities.
- Deliver persuasive sales presentations to prospects, partners, and end-users.
- Engage in project acquisition negotiations.
- Coordinate with development partners to secure power sales contracts, site agreements, interconnection, and permitting.
- Research and report on relevant state and local regulatory issues.
- Secure off-take agreements for several gigawatts of renewable power and storage assets, conducting market analysis to evaluate opportunities.
- Grow and lead the U.S. Power Origination department to achieve industry leadership.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in power origination or marketing.
- In-depth understanding of U.S. power markets with the ability to assess, evaluate, and provide insights into evolving conditions.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with global cross-functional teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in renewable energy analytics, economics, and financial modeling is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree is preferred.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
- Experience in the renewable energy sector.
