West Power Energy (WPE) is a prominent multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, primarily focused on power generation, transmission, and distribution. We are dedicated to delivering engineering solutions to both public and private utility organizations, consultants, and contractors involved in the design and construction of power generation facilities, transmission lines, and substations throughout North America.

We are currently seeking an AutoCAD Drafting Technician (Part-Time) to contribute to our operations. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with senior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and draft various drawings and maps for construction initiatives.
  • Drafting will primarily encompass civil and electrical drawings related to transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
  • Modifying and creating drawings based on engineer-provided feedback.
  • Producing work/plan redline markups and annotations.
  • Ensuring the quality and precision of all work produced.
  • Thriving in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
  • Collaborating with other teams to deliver integrated services and support.
  • Preparing design packages, including plotting, printing, and submission processes.
  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD Design (2D and 3D) is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Inventor, and/or ArcGIS software is advantageous.
  • A certification in Drafting/Design/CAD or progress towards a degree in a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD 2016 or newer.
  • Understanding of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Experience with Substations, Transmission, Civil Engineering, or related projects is a plus.

The compensation for this position ranges from $25 to $30 per hour, influenced by various factors such as relevant experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, and geographical location.
