Position Overview

The Third-Party Portfolio Risk Manager (TPPRM) plays a pivotal role in the organization, reporting directly to the Manager of Third Party Portfolio Management. This position collaborates closely with Product Service Owners (PSOs) across designated Business Lines (BL), Chief Risk Officers (CRO) staff, Risk/Compliance/Audit (RCA) Managers, Procurement teams, Legal Division, as well as Technology and Information Security departments to effectively implement and oversee the comprehensive third-party risk management lifecycle. The TPPRM is accountable for achieving operational metrics that contribute to the success of a high-performance team. Assigned to a specific Business Line, the TPPRM will manage the Third-Party Portfolio throughout all phases of the lifecycle as outlined in the interagency regulatory guidance on Third Party Risk Management. The lifecycle encompasses: Planning, Risk Assessment, Due Diligence / Third Party Selection, Contracting, and Ongoing Monitoring / Performance Management. The TPPRM will operate within a client-focused model, where Business Lines and PSOs depend on the TPPRM for the onboarding and continuous management of third parties, emphasizing resilience and performance.

- Execute programs that achieve Service Level Objectives (SLO) to ensure proactive management of third-party risk within the client-centric model.

- Foster strong partnerships and build relationships within Risk Management & Compliance, Operational Risk, Risk & Control Specialist groups, and Technology partners across Business Lines and CRO teams to fulfill business and organizational goals through effective use of Third Parties.

- Carry out daily responsibilities, including:

- Act as the primary relationship owner and point of contact for Business Lines to assist in managing their third-party portfolios.

- Cultivate effective relationships with Business Lines and Product Service Owners to collaborate during the selection of Third Parties (Planning phase) through appropriate due diligence and risk assessment aligned with regulatory expectations.

- Manage risks and relationships with third-party contacts (e.g., Account Managers) to support Product Service Owners.

- Understand and actively oversee Business Line third-party portfolios, ensuring optimal product/service mappings, assessments/evaluations, and segmentation across both Corporate and Business Directed programs.

- Assume end-to-end responsibility for process execution/facilitation from BCI and change form intake through due diligence, risk assessment, contracting, and ongoing monitoring, including any Third-Party Events/Incidents.

- Stay engaged with assigned Business Line relationship managers/stakeholders and assist CROs with reporting/updates for Business Line Risk Committee meetings.

- Guide requests for new third parties, new product services, or new contracts through the process while prudently managing risk.

- Coordinate contract reviews with Procurement, Legal Division, and other RCS groups, ensuring negotiations progress effectively.

- Challenge RCS groups on findings and escalate issues as necessary.

- Actively manage remediation plans through discussions with Business Lines, RCS groups, and third parties.

- Ensure overall portfolio risk remains within appetite by managing reassessments and minimizing breaches of Key Risk Indicators or other operational metrics.

- Collaborate with Product/Service Owners within Business Lines to actively manage third-party performance, business continuity, and resilience.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Typically requires more than six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience

- Extensive experience in all facets of Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program management, with a solid understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends affecting the banking sector.

- Proven relationship-building skills and a track record of achieving organizational objectives through collaboration and influence.

- Familiarity with the operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls of the business line, with knowledge of Wealth Management being a plus.

- Comprehensive understanding of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies.

- Strong individual contributor skills in process management, influencing, and negotiation.

- Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Proficient in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.

This role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, with an expectation of in-office presence for three or more days per week, along with the flexibility to work remotely on other days.
