POSITION SUMMARY

The NPI Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role in the supplier development sector, focusing on the creation and implementation of new components for designated Powertrain systems (Motor, GDU, Inverter) and ICCU assembly initiatives.

This position requires collaboration with suppliers to guarantee that the components they produce adhere to the established quality benchmarks, are delivered punctually, and align with the financial objectives set forth by the organization.

Ultimately, the NPI Procurement Specialist is essential to the effectiveness of the supplier development team and the overall achievement of the Powertrain assembly project by ensuring that the components provided meet the necessary quality criteria, are delivered on schedule, and assist the organization in reaching its cost objectives.

ABOUT MOBIS NORTH AMERICA ELECTRIFIED POWERTRAIN, LLC

MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain LLC (MNAe) is a Tier 1 supplier of Battery System Assembly (BSA) and Powertrain systems, which are critical components in the production of electric vehicles, utilizing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies associated with battery system assembly. MNAe supplies BSA and Powertrain systems to three primary hubs of the Hyundai Motor Group in North America.

Essential Responsibilities (To excel in this role, the incumbent must competently perform each essential duty. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.)

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of electric vehicle motors, including their components and interactions, is highly preferred.
  • Expertise in supplier manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction and quality enhancement.
  • Excellent communication skills to keep stakeholders updated on progress.
  • Proven project management abilities to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Experience in the automotive sourcing domain is preferred.

Project Management Duties

  • Assists in the development and implementation of components for assigned projects with suppliers and various departments.
  • Creates detailed project plans, tactical execution strategies, and schedules for each component project.
  • Provides management with overviews and reports on critical project milestones.
  • Maintains robust relationships with suppliers and both internal and external customers.
  • Regularly communicates with upper management regarding the status of ongoing projects, seeking guidance and approvals as necessary.

Supplier Management Responsibilities

  • Supports suppliers in meeting quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Addresses supply shortages related to supplier issues.
  • Conducts value engineering initiatives to identify potential cost savings.
  • Proposes Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for cost reduction, quality enhancement, and lean production improvements.
  • Collects and organizes documentation from suppliers to support headquarters, sales, and customer requests.
  • Responsible for supplier Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) reviews and quality audits.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, business, or a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and technical capabilities.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, forging, welding, die-casting, machining, electronics, assembly, material flow, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret 2D/3D drawings and familiarity with design tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Over 2 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply quality.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: None

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with some walking between buildings.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Frequent travel, including potential overnight or extended stays.
  • Participation in all Supplier Development workgroups as needed.
