The Facilities Maintenance Manager will deliver technical assistance for the plant's infrastructure (power, water, air, lighting, gas, etc.). This role will oversee projects related to electrical and mechanical support systems, building renovations, and other infrastructure-related tasks to enhance manufacturing operations. Depending on facility requirements, this position may also encompass responsibilities related to manufacturing equipment support. This role includes managing a team of direct reports and coordinating all maintenance and janitorial activities during an assigned work shift.
Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison within the plant during 3rd shift to offer technical support and guidance on facility infrastructure and support systems.
  • Provide technical knowledge regarding plant layout, connections into and out of the facility, and troubleshooting operational issues. This expertise will be extended to Plant Operations across various shifts.
  • Oversee and ensure the effective operation of facility support systems, including lighting, air compressors, electrical systems (including breaker maintenance), plumbing, vacuum pumps, sprinklers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, boilers, heaters, electric volts, process waste, drainage, dock doors, roofs, fans, and backup generators.
  • Possess a strong background in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of troubleshooting and circuit work.
  • Ability to perform basic hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Exhibit skills to conduct reasonable root cause analysis for equipment failures and provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Supervise hourly maintenance staff by developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance and make recommendations for hiring and termination, addressing employee concerns in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to safe maintenance practices, as assessed through internal audits and safety records.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities in the assigned area with other departments to meet company objectives, measured by key performance indicators.
  • Balance workloads and resources to achieve optimal results.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team as necessary for effective problem resolution.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and downtime response, including electrical wiring, machine control hardware/software, PLC, and high/low voltage power distribution.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed; coordinate activities with other responders; direct staff work and resource utilization to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs.
  • Ensure staff are trained in complex maintenance tasks and adhere to standard operating procedures, as evaluated through skill assessments and work order audits.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Strong coaching and influencing abilities, with the capacity to inspire employees and managers at all levels.
  • Familiarity with Lean and TPM manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate team projects effectively.
  • A high level of initiative, energy, and motivation to develop and thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Working Conditions

  • The role requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments, subject to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Safety equipment usage is mandatory, including but not limited to: eye protection, hearing protection, arm guards, and steel-toed footwear.
  • Weekend work may be required.
