Objective

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for the creation, execution, and management of comprehensive safety and environmental programs within the facility. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards, while safeguarding the well-being of employees and the surrounding community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the facility's Integrated Environmental, Health & Safety system to cultivate a safe and productive workplace that aligns with company policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and engage employees in safety initiatives, leading the facility's safety committee.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to advocate for safety practices.
  • Utilize established EHS data management processes to track and report incidents, conduct risk assessments, and analyze safety data for continuous improvement.
  • Assist site management in conducting thorough accident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Evaluate contractor safety processes through pre-qualifications and regular site visits.
  • Organize teams to identify and implement safety enhancements.
  • Encourage reporting of incidents and near misses, performing root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct risk assessments and oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request processes.
  • Lead the facility's emergency response team, ensuring proper training in emergency and spill response.
  • Develop and implement an annual training plan to meet legal training requirements.
  • Oversee the documentation and reporting related to safety training, certifications, inspections, and complaints.
  • Act as the primary contact for safety and health concerns, collaborating with employees to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the facility's document control system for safety procedures and analyses.
  • Keep management informed of safety and environmental issues.
  • Establish a compliance calendar for all safety-related activities and reporting obligations.
  • Manage Title V environmental reporting and permitting.
  • Develop Safety Data Sheets and ensure compliance with regulations such as Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and CPSIA.
  • Set targets for continuous improvement in sustainability efforts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and generate timely reports.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with both shop floor employees and management.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently to other facilities.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
