Objective

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for the creation, implementation, and supervision of environmental health and safety initiatives and protocols to protect employees and the surrounding community. This role ensures adherence to all relevant regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the site's Integrated Environmental, Health & Safety framework to cultivate a safe and productive workplace while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and employee involvement throughout the organization and lead the safety committee.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to advocate for safety practices.
  • Utilize established EHS data management processes to track and report incidents, risk assessments, and other critical safety information, analyzing data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Assist site management in conducting thorough accident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Evaluate contractor safety processes through pre-qualifications and regular site visits.
  • Organize teams to identify and implement safety enhancements.
  • Encourage reporting of incidents and near misses, performing root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
  • Assess non-standard tasks for potential risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Oversee the management of safety data sheets and the process for new chemical requests.
  • Lead the facility's emergency response team, ensuring comprehensive training in emergency and spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
  • Develop an annual training plan detailing training topics, participants, and schedules to meet legal requirements.
  • Manage documentation related to safety training, certifications, inspections, and audits.
  • Act as the primary contact for safety and health concerns within the facility, collaborating with employees to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the document control system for Lock-out-tagout (ZES) procedures and Behavioral Job Analysis (BJA) documents.
  • Keep management informed of safety and environmental issues.
  • Create a compliance calendar for all necessary activities and reporting obligations.
  • Oversee Title V environmental reporting and permitting.
  • Develop Safety Data Sheets and maintain familiarity with regulations such as Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and CPSIA.
  • Establish targets for the continuous improvement of sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding safety, health, environment, and workers' compensation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with operational processes or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records and generate timely reports.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with both shop floor personnel and management.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently to other facilities.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
