Objective

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety and environmental programs within the facility. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards, to protect employees and the surrounding community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the facility's Integrated Environmental, Health & Safety system to create a safe and productive workplace that aligns with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and employee involvement across the organization, leading the facility's safety committee.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to encourage safety practices and awareness.
  • Utilize established EHS data management processes to track and report incidents, conduct risk assessments, and analyze safety metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Assist site management in conducting thorough accident investigations, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Evaluate contractor safety processes through pre-qualifications and regular site audits.
  • Lead initiatives to identify and implement safety enhancements within the facility.
  • Encourage reporting of incidents and near misses, performing root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend control measures for identified hazards, overseeing the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request processes to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee the facility's emergency response team, ensuring they receive appropriate training in emergency preparedness and crisis management.
  • Develop and implement an annual training plan that meets all legal training requirements.
  • Administer the documentation and reporting related to safety training, certifications, inspections, and audits.
  • Act as the primary contact for safety and health concerns within the facility, collaborating with employees to address issues.
  • Assist in maintaining the document control system for safety procedures and analyses.
  • Keep management informed of safety and environmental issues affecting the facility.
  • Develop a compliance calendar to track all necessary activities and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain Title V environmental reporting and permitting.
  • Ensure familiarity with safety regulations such as Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and CPSIA.
  • Set targets for continuous improvement in sustainability efforts within the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other facilities.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional is highly desirable.
