Objective

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and management of the facility's environmental health and safety initiatives to protect employees and the surrounding community. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Integrated Environmental, Health & Safety system to cultivate a workplace that prioritizes safety, productivity, and compliance with EHS policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and engage employees throughout the organization while leading the facility's safety committee.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to advocate for safety practices.
  • Utilize established EHS data management processes to track and report incidents, risk assessments, and other critical safety information. Analyze data to drive continuous safety improvements.
  • Assist site management in accident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify potential risks and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Evaluate contractor safety processes through pre-qualifications and regular site audits.
  • Organize teams to identify and implement safety enhancements.
  • Encourage reporting of incidents and near misses, performing root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
  • Assess non-standard tasks for risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Complete risk assessments and oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Manage the safety data sheet and new chemical request procedures.
  • Lead the facility's emergency response team, ensuring adequate training in emergency and spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
  • Develop an annual training plan detailing training topics, participants, and schedules to meet legal requirements.
  • Oversee the reporting, recordkeeping, and management of safety training, certifications, inspections, and follow-up actions.
  • Act as the primary contact for safety and health concerns, collaborating with employees to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the facility's document control system for Lock-out-tagout (ZES) procedures and Behavioral Job Analysis (BJA) documents.
  • Keep management informed of safety and environmental issues.
  • Develop a compliance calendar for all required activities and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain Title V environmental reporting and permitting.
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets and regulations such as Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and CPSIA.
  • Establish targets for continuous improvement in sustainability efforts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to safety, health, environment, and workers' compensation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently to other facilities.
  • Physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
