Job Overview

This role is responsible for assisting in the development and upkeep of the Environmental Health and Safety ("EHS") initiatives, activities, and safeguards for the organization. The position collaborates with various compliance frameworks to ensure the protection of all personnel and physical resources. The specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining adherence to all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations as mandated by federal, state, and local laws.

Additional Details

This is an on-site role within a manufacturing environment operating 24/7. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential overtime as needed for site operations.

Travel requirement is approximately 10%.

This position may qualify for performance-based bonuses in accordance with the Company's established policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement programs and strategies in collaboration with site leadership to minimize the occurrence and impact of workplace injuries, illnesses, and asset damage.
  • Embed risk management and loss prevention practices into daily operations.
  • Support and engage with employee-led safety committees.
  • Oversee incident management systems and processes, including documentation and safety observation tracking.
  • Analyze incident reports and provide recommendations for corrective actions, focusing on proactive measures.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver comprehensive EHS training for site personnel.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through proactive engagement with employees and maintaining a visible presence on the shop floor.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the country of employment without requiring sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Must have an associate's degree or higher, or two (2) years of relevant experience in environmental, health, and safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of formal training and/or at least one (1) year of experience utilizing continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing or distribution setting.
  • Experience managing industrial safety standards, including knowledge of respirator and lifting safety protocols.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in environmental, health, and safety, or completion of a relevant development program.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems.
  • Experience in conducting training and/or developing training materials.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Health & Safety, Engineering, or Business.
