Objective

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and oversight of the facility's environmental health and safety initiatives to protect employees and the surrounding community. This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the site's Integrated Environmental, Health & Safety system to cultivate a workplace that prioritizes safety, productivity, and compliance with company EHS policies and applicable regulations.
  • Champion a culture of safety and employee involvement across the organization and lead the facility's safety committee.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to promote safety practices.
  • Utilize established EHS data management processes to track and report incidents, risk assessments, and safety action items. Analyze safety data to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist site management in conducting thorough accident investigations, ensuring all documentation and follow-up actions are completed.
  • Conduct regular audits, including ISO and internal audits, to identify potential risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Evaluate contractor safety processes through pre-qualifications and regular site audits.
  • Organize teams to identify and implement safety enhancements.
  • Encourage reporting of incidents and near misses, conducting root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences.
  • Assess non-standard tasks for risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Oversee the management of safety data sheets and the new chemical request process.
  • Lead the facility's emergency response team, ensuring proper training in emergency preparedness and crisis management.
  • Develop and implement an annual training plan that meets all legal training requirements.
  • Manage documentation related to safety training, certifications, inspections, and audits.
  • Act as the primary contact for safety and health concerns within the facility, collaborating with employees to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the facility's document control system for Lock-out-tagout (ZES) procedures and Behavioral Job Analysis (BJA) documents.
  • Keep management informed of safety and environmental issues.
  • Develop a compliance calendar for all necessary activities and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain Title V environmental reporting and permitting.
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets and regulations such as Prop 65, REACH, RoHS, and CPSIA.
  • Establish targets for continuous improvement in sustainability efforts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel infrequently to other facilities.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 75 lbs.
