Job Summary

The R&D Technician will play a key role in the development of new products, reformulation, and optimization of current formulas, processes, and materials. This position requires a candidate with strong laboratory skills, excellent organizational abilities, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of quality formulas, meeting all timelines, specifications, and requirements through bench experiments, testing procedures, and data analysis.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on formulations using laboratory experimentation.
  • Follow standard operating procedures on scientific significance, accuracy, safety, and record keeping.
  • Maintain an accurate and organized laboratory notebook, including documenting actions, observations, results, conclusions, and completing the table of contents.
  • Evaluate alternate raw materials against controls, completing side-by-side experiments and evaluating physical properties.
  • Conduct national brand evaluations, comparing testing, recording data, and generating summaries.
  • Assist with sales sample requests and coordinate sample generation for quality control stabilities, third-party testing, safety testing, etc.
  • Provide technical support to lab personnel, including participating in blind triangle evaluations, assisting others with additional bench work/batch making, equipment function trainings, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry or a closely related field of study, or equivalent experience and/or training, or a combination of 3 years education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year laboratory experience, including college laboratory experience.
  • One year of professional laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint reporting tools and all Microsoft applications.
