Job Overview

The role of the Medical Call Center Representative is essential in providing administrative, clerical, and patient scheduling support to ensure the effective and timely care of patients, aligning with the objectives of Family Healthcare of Hagerstown.

This position involves engaging with patients through various communication channels, including telephone and in-person interactions, while performing a variety of tasks that prepare for patient appointments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle a significant volume of incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Listen attentively, assess patient needs, and respond with patience and courtesy.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as faxing, message taking, record copying, and proficient computer usage.
  • Regularly review schedules for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Compile reports to ensure patients return for necessary follow-up visits and maintain full schedules.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of patient and departmental information.
  • Exhibit positive interpersonal skills to encourage and support colleagues.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills consistently.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma with commercial or business coursework is required. Completion of a Medical/Secretarial program is preferred.

Experience: Proficiency in computer skills is necessary. Familiarity with medical terminology is required, and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, and comprehend the English language, are essential. The ability to work independently is also required.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Physical: Minimal physical effort is required, with intermittent sitting and the freedom to move. Occasional walking, bending, lifting, pulling, and reaching may be necessary. Normal vision and hearing capabilities are required.

Mental: The role demands frequent concentration and attention to detail, with opportunities for task diversification. There may be frequent interruptions, necessitating the ability to articulate and comprehend spoken English, as well as read and write in English.

Work Environment:

The work is conducted in a modern, well-equipped setting, with daily interactions with colleagues. Office equipment such as multi-line telephones, fax machines, copiers, shredders, and computers are utilized regularly.
