POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Youth Empowerment Case Manager for the Learn 2 Earn initiative is responsible for ensuring that assigned clients, specifically youth and young adults, receive a comprehensive array of client-focused services aimed at facilitating their success in employment and educational programs. The Learn to Earn initiative provides free educational and training opportunities, including Work Readiness and Job Placement assistance, to the youth of Rhode Island.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full-time commitment of 35 hours per week, with potential evening hours required. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the needs of the client population.
  • Travel between various youth centers across the region may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree, along with two years of experience in a related field or equivalent life experiences.
  • Demonstrated skills in case management and a solid understanding of youth development.
  • Experience working with urban youth, as well as knowledge in human relations, psychology, social work, or similar disciplines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to provide and maintain all necessary immunizations and vaccinations.

CONFIDENTIALITY:
Access to program case management records is required, and confidentiality must be maintained in accordance with applicable laws and organizational policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To excel in this role, the individual must effectively carry out the following duties:

  • Provide case management services to youth and young adults enrolled in employment and educational programs.
  • Conduct thorough intake assessments for clients.
  • Monitor client cases by verifying attendance, evaluating service strategies, advocating for necessary services, and providing crisis intervention and personal support.
  • Develop individualized service plans in alignment with grant provisions.
  • Document case information, complete required forms, and generate monthly attendance and case note reports.
  • Respond to inquiries from potential program partners and incoming youth.
  • Implement strategies to engage and retain youth through motivation and encouragement.
  • Network with other youth-serving organizations and educational institutions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequent use of hands and fingers is necessary, along with the ability to reach with arms. Occasional standing and walking may be required, and the employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is primarily an office setting with potential exposure to various health risks, necessitating adherence to universal precautions.
