Objective:
The primary aim of this role is to assist individuals facing unemployment or underemployment in achieving their educational, professional, and financial aspirations. This position entails delivering personalized case management throughout the Jobs Plus initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate employment readiness and job skills training, including referrals for job search assistance and strategies for maintaining employment.
• Conduct participant intake and administer career evaluations.
• Provide tailored counseling to meet participants' economic objectives, including access to income support.
• Create and track progress on Individual Service and Training Plans (ISTP).
• Connect participants with internal and external support services (such as childcare, mental health, education, and training) to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
• Follow up with participants to monitor success, job retention, and additional support needs.
• Employ motivational interviewing techniques to help participants overcome barriers and enhance their job search and interview skills.
• Revise and enhance existing career exploration and employment readiness curricula to incorporate resume writing, interview preparation, and essential soft skills.
• Lead workshops on employment readiness and provide orientation for the Jobs Plus Program.
• Collaborate with adult education organizations to ensure participants receive necessary ESL, GED, and literacy training.
• Assist participants in navigating Workforce Solutions and enrolling in relevant job centers.
• Maintain detailed documentation of participant progress in case management systems while ensuring confidentiality.
• Record program activities and outcomes (such as photographs, articles, and success stories) for internal and external communications.
• Attend professional development training and conferences as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
• A two-year college degree in social services, career coaching, community organizing, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
• Minimum of two years in job training, career coaching, job development, or community organizing.
• At least two years of experience in case management.
• Familiarity with case management databases is essential.
Skills and Competencies:
• Bilingual skills are required, with fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Understanding of issues related to low-income and public housing is necessary.
• Strong knowledge of skills relevant to job training programs and workplace environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to changing circumstances.
• Capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse populations.
• Competence in preparing both narrative and numerical reports.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Ability to engage with residents from varied socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all assignments.
Work Environment:
• Office-based role with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Sedentary work involving administrative tasks, with occasional walking, standing, and driving.
Work Schedule:
• A 35-hour work week, which may include evenings and weekends as necessary.
Equipment Proficiency:
• Competent in using computers, printers, and standard office equipment.
