Position Overview: The City of Providence is seeking a compassionate and skilled individual to oversee a semi-independent living program tailored for young individuals aged 16-21, particularly those from the LGBTQ+ community. The Youth Services Coordinator will work closely with the residential administration to foster a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for youth who have faced various challenges, including trauma, family rejection, and mental health issues. This role involves collaboration with the management team and Assistant Coordinator to ensure the safety and well-being of residents placed through relevant state departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of counselors, ensuring adherence to Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) principles within the residential environment.
- Manage program operations, including budgeting, staff scheduling, and strategic planning, while ensuring a safe and nurturing space for residents.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff to maintain compliance with agency and state regulations.
- Provide direct support to residents, facilitating daily activities and group sessions that promote personal growth and community engagement.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to implement individualized treatment plans for each resident, fostering a sense of belonging and normalcy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is required.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is essential.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.
- Strong understanding of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity.
- Proficient communication skills are necessary.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- Bilingual candidates will receive additional compensation.
Physical Requirements: This role involves community and residential site visits, requiring the ability to:
- Travel to various locations, including navigating stairs and elevators.
- Utilize technology for documentation purposes.
- Lift and manage light weights as necessary.
