Position Overview:
Childcare Director for the South Side Branch
Location: Providence, RI
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt
Compensation: $45,000 to $55,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a state-licensed program for school-age children that operates before and after school, as well as during summer months, serving a significant number of children daily.
- Supervise and mentor staff members.
- Develop and enhance program offerings.
- Plan and organize schedules effectively.
- Manage program administration and operations.
- Ensure staff compliance with training and background check requirements.
- Oversee facility maintenance and safety protocols.
- Foster a positive club environment and culture.
- Supervise youth participants.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Drive membership growth initiatives.
- Monitor site budget, including childcare payments and expense management.
- Conduct program evaluations.
- Manage data related to attendance, reporting, and grant obligations.
- Build community relations and partnerships with schools and local agencies.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
The Childcare Director must fulfill the qualifications to be recognized as the "School-Age Site Coordinator" on the state-issued childcare license.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet one of the following educational criteria:
- Option 1: An Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours, including 18 in relevant fields, plus two years of supervised teaching experience.
- Option 2: An Associate's degree in a relevant field and one year of supervised teaching experience.
- Option 3: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and three months of supervised teaching experience.
- Option 4: A Master's degree in a relevant field.
Additional Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in youth development or education, including at least one year in a supervisory role.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and membership databases.
- Must obtain a RI Chauffeur's License within the first 90 days of employment.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required.
- Preferred: Experience in a Boys & Girls Club and familiarity with state-licensed childcare programs.
- Preferred: Fluency in Spanish.
