Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:40am – 4:00pmQualifications and Skills
A strong dedication to the mission of Harlem Children's Zone A bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is required 2 – 5 years of teaching experience in an urban educational environment is preferred New York State certification for grades 7-12 in History/Social Studies is preferred but not mandatory Exceptional verbal and written communication abilitiesOur Commitment to You

Incoming teacher salaries are determined based on years of experience as a lead teacher, educational level (bachelor's or master's degree), and certification.

Responsibilities
Design, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that promote active learning Ensure lessons are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with Common Core State Standards Develop and utilize a variety of assessments (e.g., exams, written work, and public performances) that frequently measure student progress toward the school's content and skill standards Maintain an organized classroom environment that facilitates learning Ensure that students master grade-level standards Maintain and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students Incorporate direct instruction, discussion, projects, and cooperative work to engage students, keep classes focused, and instill a lasting desire to learn Collaborate with teaching assistants and/or teaching fellows to create an effective classroom environment and address the needs of individual students Adhere to the school's policies and procedures for student conduct and discipline, and manage classroom disruptions effectively Develop clear evaluation criteria and communicate them to students prior to assignments Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Participate in grade level and school-wide activities Opportunity to work Saturdays during test prep season – additional compensation providedInterview Process
