Overview:
Under the guidance of the Middle School Head, the Middle School Social Studies Educator plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of students. This position focuses on enhancing the foundational knowledge acquired in earlier grades, while crafting lesson plans, independent learning activities, and instructional materials that cater to both individual learning needs and the dynamics of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and professional instruction in assigned classes, ensuring effective classroom management and assessment;
- Develop and execute curriculum and instructional strategies aligned with the institution's mission and educational standards;
- Promote an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity and fosters a sense of belonging;
- Evaluate student performance to identify strengths and areas for improvement;
- Provide constructive feedback on assignments and assessments, encouraging student independence and accountability;
- Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance curriculum development and instructional methodologies;
- Establish and maintain open communication with students and their families;
- Embrace a growth mindset, pursuing professional development and setting personal teaching goals;
- Adhere to school policies and expectations while supporting the overall mission of the institution;
- Build and sustain professional relationships with colleagues and community partners for the benefit of students;
- Assist the Head of School and senior leadership in various initiatives;
- Engage in non-classroom activities such as conferences, faculty meetings, and special events;
- Ensure student safety and well-being during supervision outside the classroom;
- Complete necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of teaching experience is essential.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of a background check is mandatory.
