Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and mission-aligned teacher to join our middle school team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing culturally-relevant and inquiry-based curriculum, planning interactive lessons, and assessing student growth. They will also be expected to collaborate with teams, analyze student work, and maintain ongoing communication with families.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally-relevant and inquiry-based curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners
  • Plan and deliver interactive lessons that promote student engagement and demonstration of learning
  • Assess and accelerate student growth through data-driven practices
  • Create an inclusive environment that fosters self-advocacy and promotes student voice
  • Collaborate with teams to learn with and from each other, and to align instruction to the needs of students
  • Analyze and study student work to identify trends and misconceptions
  • Monitor student academic and social-emotional growth data to inform instructional practices
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families, including actionable feedback and progress updates
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid New York State Certification
  • Proven track record of planning lessons with clear learning objectives and a means for assessing whether those objectives have been met
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated content knowledge, including experience planning lessons aligned with New York State Next Generation State Standards
  • Demonstrated success in tailoring instruction to the needs of diverse learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals
  • Experience working with educational technology
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

School in the Square is committed to supporting our teachers and staff in building sustainable and rewarding careers. We offer a competitive salary range of $68,675 - $121,230, as well as opportunities for supplemental compensation, an excellent benefits package, and a friendly work environment.
