Position Purpose: The primary goal of this role is to educate and support students within the designated classroom. The Resource Specialist Teacher (RST) is responsible for addressing the needs of special education students. Teachers are expected to engage all students in the learning process while fostering a safe and effective environment.

Employment Type: Non-Exempt - Part-Time

Compensation: $45.00 to $55.00/hr

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing comprehensive lesson plans that cater to diverse student needs and include assessment procedures aligned with educational standards.
  • Overseeing and guiding paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Maintaining a classroom environment focused on student engagement and safety, implementing behavior plans, and adapting curriculum as necessary.
  • Participating in IEP meetings for assigned students, ensuring timely updates and documentation.
  • Modeling appropriate behavior and social interactions with students and staff.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance educational outcomes for all students.
  • Designing learning experiences based on data analysis, conducting assessments regularly.
  • Engaging in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills.
  • Communicating with parents weekly regarding student progress and behavior incidents.
  • Documenting behavior interventions and ensuring timely communication with families.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience working with students with learning or social-emotional needs.
  • Valid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, Level 2 acceptable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Familiarity with standard business practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications and internet use.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Master's degree in special education is strongly recommended.
  • Experience in special education and possession of an Educational Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities is required.
  • Experience in running a special day class and implementing relevant curriculum and behavior interventions is preferred.
  • Successful completion of DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance.
  • Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification is advantageous.

Work Environment:
  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Requires frequent physical activities including reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have normal vision and hearing capabilities.
  • Noise levels may vary from moderate to high.
