Partners in Special Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Specialist to join our team. As a Special Education Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing instructional support to students with special needs and identified learning disabilities in our special education program.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Support: Provide individualized instruction to students with special needs, reinforcing language and reading concepts, and adapting curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Test Administration and Scoring: Administer and score individual and group tests to assess student progress and identify areas for improvement.
- IEP Meetings and Coordination: Schedule and conduct IEP meetings, coordinating with parents, general education teachers, administrators, and special education staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with parents regarding student progress, conduct, and behavior, and collaborate with speech therapists, psychologists, and other service providers to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Progress Monitoring and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, including progress toward IEP goals and independent study program objectives.
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree and Special Education Specialist Certificate or ability to obtain Mild/Moderate Certificate.
- Teaching Experience: Valid California Teaching Credential in Special Education (Mild/Moderate) and experience teaching students of grades K-12.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to work with children of all ages, understand and support the independent study program, and operate a PC computer, word processor, copier, FAX, and other office machines.
