We are seeking a qualified individual for a pivotal role in our educational institution.

CalWest's client school in the Greater Los Angeles Area is in need of a Resource Specialist Teacher to fill an immediate vacancy.

Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree and/or other educational credentials as specified in the job requirements
  • Skills and competencies relevant to the position
  • Proximity to the CalWest client school or willingness to relocate
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is highly preferred
  • Commitment to educational equity and enthusiasm for the school's mission and design
  • Experience with diverse student populations, including English learners and students with disabilities
  • Familiarity with backwards planning is advantageous
  • Dedication to high standards and the effective use of assessments to inform differentiated instruction
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Self-motivated with a drive for success
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Capability to provide and implement constructive feedback for continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid California mild to moderate special education teaching credential with EL authorization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop individualized education plans in collaboration with parents and IEP team members.
  • Create instructional strategies, both one-on-one and in small groups, that align with the general education curriculum and support students in achieving their IEP goals.
  • Track student progress and engage in the review and adjustment of IEPs as necessary.
  • Evaluate students with disabilities or those suspected of having disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports.
  • Participate in weekly special education team meetings.
  • Assist general education teachers in providing appropriate support and access for students with disabilities.
  • Attend IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Utilize school-approved planning tools to create and refine curriculum maps, projects, rubrics, units, and lessons that meet Common Core Standards.
  • Foster a structured and positive classroom environment that promotes learning and a sense of belonging.
  • Build positive, caring relationships with students and school community members.
  • Use data to customize instruction to meet individual academic and social needs, aiming for grade-level performance.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including curriculum refinement, grade-level meetings, and coaching sessions.
  • Exhibit professionalism by meeting deadlines and maintaining effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, families, and students.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and departmental teams, as well as other special education/resource and English language development educators, to ensure rigor and equitable access.
