Partners in Special Education is seeking a highly skilled Visual Impairment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will provide assessment and consultant services to classroom teachers, as well as direct instruction to students with visual impairments.
Key Responsibilities- Program Planning: Design and implement exceptional student education programs that align with the school's educational philosophy.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Prepare, implement, and evaluate annual educational plans for each student based on individually assessed needs.
- Instructional Services: Provide specialized instructional techniques and media through individual and/or group sessions to meet the educational, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Public Relations: Cooperate with school personnel to coordinate services, confer with classroom teachers, and develop in-service programs to inform teachers of program goals and objectives.
- Reporting and Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate and up-to-date evaluation records, furnish schedules to the principal, and complete progress reports as necessary.
- Education: Minimum BS Degree, with graduate work beyond the bachelor's degree preferred.
- Credentials: Valid California teaching credential authorizing specialized services for the visually impaired, with dual certification including Orientation and Mobility Certification preferred.
- Experience: Experience in an academic or school setting, with experience in completing functional vision, literacy modality, and orientation and mobility assessments and maintaining records and files preferred.
