About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team at Pacific Life Insurance Company. As a key member of our Office of the General Counsel, you will play a critical role in supporting our investment activities and providing strategic legal advice to our business leaders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with our investment team to analyze and structure fixed-income investment opportunities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Negotiate and draft a broad range of investment-related agreements, including private placements, project finance, and private debt transactions.
  • Provide general corporate and regulatory advice to support Pacific Life Investments' business and operations, including advising on day-to-day Treasury needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including credit analysts and investment operations, on all aspects of the transaction execution process.
  • Monitor related legal, regulatory, and market developments, staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Direct outside counsel in connection with investment and financing transactions and related matters.
  • Build and maintain external industry relationships, fostering strong connections with key stakeholders and partners.
Requirements
  • License to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 6+ years direct relevant experience at a law firm or a financial services organization.
  • Working knowledge of securities laws, with a strong understanding of derivatives and insurance regulations relating to investments.
  • In-depth and practical knowledge of corporate finance transactions, including private debt, private placements, and project finance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills, as well as strong business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze and recommend solutions to complex problems.
  • Comfortable working independently on multiple projects and prioritizing work streams as needed.
  • Demonstrates team leadership experience for managing large legal projects.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships through strong interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated to develop professionally and learn new skills.
