Job Overview

The American Lung Association is seeking a dedicated Development Manager to enhance our fundraising initiatives. As a vital member of the Development department, you will contribute to our mission of saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution of Special Events, ensuring they meet or exceed revenue targets by employing effective strategies for recruiting volunteers, sponsors, and participants.
  • Organize and facilitate Corporate Recruitment Breakfasts and Kickoff events to boost sponsor engagement and educate the community about our mission.
  • Implement participant recruitment and retention strategies to foster successful fundraising efforts.
  • Analyze event outcomes and provide insights for future initiatives to broaden our outreach.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to manage event budgets, ensuring expenses are controlled and seeking in-kind sponsorships.
  • Partner with the Marketing/Communication team to establish media collaborations for events.
  • Assist in logistical planning and serve as the primary staff representative on event days to ensure a positive experience for all attendees.
  • Maintain accurate records in databases as required.
  • Engage in special projects and act as the local liaison for community events as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising is essential.
  • Proven track record in managing external relationships and recruiting volunteers.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Strong multitasking skills in a dynamic work environment.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in social and digital media.
  • A valid Driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary, with the ability to travel for meetings and events.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (event supplies).
  • Commitment to a smoke-free workplace, adhering to the organization's policies.
