Job Overview

The American Lung Association is seeking a Development Manager to play a pivotal role in our Development department. This position is dedicated to our mission of enhancing lung health and preventing lung diseases through advocacy, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the execution of Special Events, ensuring they meet or exceed revenue targets by employing best practices in volunteer and sponsor recruitment.
  • Organize and facilitate Corporate Recruitment Breakfasts and Kickoff events to boost participation and raise awareness about our mission.
  • Engage and nurture participants through a structured cultivation strategy to enhance fundraising success and retention.
  • Analyze event outcomes and provide insights for future initiatives to broaden our community outreach.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to manage the event budget, aiming to keep expenses within set limits by securing in-kind sponsorships.
  • Work alongside the Marketing/Communication team to establish media partnerships for events.
  • Assist in planning event logistics and take a leadership role on event days to ensure a positive experience for all attendees.
  • Maintain accurate updates in all relevant databases.
  • Handle special projects and act as the local liaison for community events as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising is essential.
  • Proven track record in managing external relationships and recruiting volunteers.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships across diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in social and digital media.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license and reliable transportation, with the capacity to travel within the assigned area as needed.
  • Ability to lift and transport event supplies weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Commitment to a smoke-free workplace, in alignment with the American Lung Association's mission.
