We are currently seeking a Senior Telecommunications and Security Designer to join our dynamic team.

Location: Flexible work arrangements available across various DLR Group offices.

Role Summary:

As a Senior Telecommunications and Security Designer, you will take charge of the design process for telecommunications network infrastructure, electronic security systems, and other low voltage systems, guiding projects from initial schematic design through to construction administration across diverse building types.

In collaboration with our integrated design team, your role will be pivotal in crafting environments that enhance the human experience through design. You will engage in the design of technology systems, producing detailed telecommunications and security documentation and calculations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the establishment of project objectives, goals, and documentation standards.
  • Develop comprehensive low voltage designs from inception to project completion.
  • Prepare detailed calculations and layouts for low voltage systems.
  • Generate thorough reports and narratives related to low voltage designs.
  • Coordinate design requirements with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in evaluating and designing telecommunications and electronic security systems.
  • Familiarity with building construction documentation.
  • Proficient in BIM (e.g., Autodesk Revit) and AutoCAD processes.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Capable of meeting deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Experience in designing security and life safety solutions in partnership with architects, engineers, and specialized design teams.
  • Understanding of security and life safety objectives and design methodologies, including CCTV, access control, and electronic intrusion detection systems.
  • Willingness to travel for project meetings and site assessments.
  • Proficient with PDF markup tools (e.g., Bluebeam).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a low voltage designer in a consulting engineering or A/E firm, particularly in commercial educational, civic, or government projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building design practices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in evaluating and designing physical security and life safety systems.
  • Experience with facility types relevant to our market sectors, including government, healthcare, corporate, and cultural arts.
  • A degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field related to security and life safety system design.
