About the Role

Brown University, a renowned institution of higher learning, seeks an exceptional individual to fill the position of Regional Development Director. This critical role requires a seasoned professional to spearhead fundraising efforts within a specific geographic territory, leveraging strategic planning, relationship-building, and exceptional communication skills.

Job Summary

The Regional Development Director will be responsible for leading a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, with the primary objective of securing a minimum of $3M annually. This involves effective prospect and donor relationship management, field qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Additionally, the successful candidate will develop and implement solicitation strategies, collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, and manage regional events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic planning and execution of fundraising campaigns
  • Relationship-building and management of high-level alumni, parents, and friends
  • Cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects
  • Development of solicitation strategies and closure of major and principal gifts
  • Effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Management of regional events and volunteer committees
  • Record-keeping and data management within the donor database
Requirements

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in development, sales, customer relations, nonprofit, and/or higher education
  • Proven ability to solicit and close philanthropic gifts on the six-figure+ level
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of CRM systems
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the United States
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education or non-profit setting is preferred. Direct experience with major gift fundraising in a capital campaign, high-level volunteer management, and knowledge of Brown University are highly desired.

The successful candidate will be based in Providence, RI, or New York, NY, with frequent travel required throughout the United States.

Salary

The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience.
