Job Summary:

As a key member of the Brown University Health Development team, the Donor Research Specialist plays a critical role in identifying and managing donor prospects. This position requires a high level of organizational skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a strong understanding of database management applications. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field and at least two years of experience in prospect research.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify and evaluate donor prospects using advanced online databases, internet resources, and in-house files.
Develop and maintain ongoing communications to advance prospect information to appropriate development staff members.
Strategize with gift officers and senior vice presidents to develop appropriate criteria for prospect identification and coordination.
Participate in multi-partner and system-wide fundraising opportunities and efforts.
Analyze financial and historical data to advise gift officers of potential donor inclination and capacity.
Present relevant information to appropriate development staff and assist in maintaining development databases.
Work closely with affiliate CEOs, senior management, physician leadership, and clinical staff to discern organizational goals and priorities.
Ensure fundraising research strategies are consistent with Brown University Health and affiliate missions.
Participate in major gift training and ongoing educational opportunities to maintain and enhance knowledge of best practices in research, prospect, and moves management stewardship and recognition.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
At least two years of experience in prospect research, developing and maintaining prospect research databases.
High level of effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of relational and online database management applications.
Exceptional organizational skills and strong computer and information management skills.
Familiarity with data mining tool searches such as Wealth Engine, Blackbaud, PIN, Kintera, and Lexis-Nexis.
Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in healthcare preferred.
