Position Overview

Apex Clean Energy is looking for a skilled Electrical Engineer to become part of the Project Management Department. This role involves managing and coordinating technical aspects of renewable energy projects from their initial development through to construction completion and ongoing operational support. As part of a collaborative Electrical Engineering team, you will work closely with internal teams in Development, Transmission, Construction, and Operations, overseeing all significant technical matters to ensure adherence to Apex's technical standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering technical concepts and engineering designs for projects at various stages of their lifecycle, as well as managing third-party electrical engineering and design tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to synthesize complex ideas are essential. A genuine passion for renewable energy is a requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee third-party engineers involved in the design of project substations, transmission lines, and collection systems;
  • Plan and coordinate both internal and external resources for technical due diligence of renewable energy projects;
  • Identify value-added opportunities and profitability drivers through technical analysis and proposal preparation;
  • Conduct technical analyses to support project development, construction, and operational activities;
  • Ensure the quality of project technical concepts aligns with company strategy and standards;
  • Develop and assist in requests for proposals for engineering work, collaborating with Procurement to evaluate submissions and recommend consultants;
  • Clarify regional requirements and resource planning by coordinating input from specialized skills, either from internal or external technical experts or through local partnerships for detailed engineering support;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To be successful as an Electrical Engineer at Apex Clean Energy, candidates should meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; advanced degree preferred;
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in electrical engineering design, particularly in substations and renewable energy systems;
  • Experience collaborating with consulting engineering firms;
  • Ability to support engineering analytics and root cause analysis for faults in operating renewable energy assets;
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills;
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing demands;
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English;
  • Professional demeanor with strong communication and presentation abilities;
  • Build trust through high ethical standards and integrity;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others while fostering a positive team environment;
  • Creative and adaptable, able to handle multiple tasks and sudden changes in priorities;
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills, including experience in writing functional and technical specifications;
  • Willingness to work from the company's headquarters.
Work Environment

This position primarily operates during traditional office hours in an indoor office setting. Flexible work hours may be permitted based on work duties and business operations.
