Role Summary:
Apex is in search of an Associate Counsel to collaborate with our legal team in delivering comprehensive legal services to internal stakeholders concerning the acquisition, development, financing, and construction of large-scale renewable energy initiatives. Under the guidance of the General Counsel, this role will oversee a range of project and corporate legal matters to bolster the Company's mission of developing, constructing, owning, and operating renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic insights regarding project development for financing, construction, and operational phases.
  • Lead and facilitate local, state, and federal permitting processes for energy projects.
  • Negotiate and execute agreements with governmental entities concerning tax issues, infrastructure improvements, and environmental mitigation.
  • Proactively identify potential legal issues and assess associated risks.
  • Manage permit appeals and other legal proceedings related to project development efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external legal counsel while balancing cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
  • 2-8 years of experience in regulatory, litigation, land-use, or environmental law, preferably in a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Experience in permitting, including drafting and defending permit applications and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, writing proficiency, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team and adapt to evolving situations.
  • Admission to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction.

Work Environment:
This position primarily operates during standard office hours in a professional office setting, with flexibility for remote work as business needs allow.
