At Ports America Shared Services, Inc., the Infrastructure Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of the organization's critical systems infrastructure. This role will involve regular engagement with both Windows and Linux platforms across various environments, as well as the configuration of web servers, database servers, and the support of enterprise storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting for operational challenges involving Microsoft technologies such as O365, SCCM, SQL Server, Exchange, Microsoft Clustering, Windows DNS/DHCP, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Design, implement, and manage essential infrastructure to ensure high availability in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Provide hands-on support for Windows desktop and server operating systems, focusing on management, deployment, data integrity, and recovery processes.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues within existing server environments.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for server environments.
  • Review security bulletins from vendors and plan regular maintenance windows while ensuring a stable production environment.
  • Engineer and manage corporate data storage subsystems, including SAN, NAS, SMB, and NFS.
  • Administer enterprise infrastructure monitoring systems such as SolarWinds Orion, PRTG, and Splunk.
  • Research and provide recommendations on best practice design methodologies.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20%.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining medium to large-scale server architectures.
  • 5+ years of experience with highly available architectures in diverse environments.
  • 2+ years of experience at the engineer level in Windows or Unix/Linux environments.
  • 7+ years of professional IT experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification) Card issued by the Department of Homeland Security.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of enterprise networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
  • General knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure.
  • Advanced understanding of server virtualization technologies, including 3-tier and hyper-converged systems (VMware, Nutanix).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Barracuda load balancers.
  • In-depth understanding of backup tools and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Proven ability to apply technological solutions to business challenges and manage complex projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple IT disciplines (Server, Database, Security, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
