Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operating system and its subsystems, providing comprehensive support for multi-user operating systems, hardware, and software tools. This includes installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing computer resources and conduct thorough investigations and analyses to draw informed conclusions.
  • Collect and evaluate information to assess existing or proposed systems, and engage in research, planning, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of operating systems and hardware/software interfaces.
  • Collaborate with other technical staff, such as networking teams, to ensure seamless connectivity and compatibility between systems.
  • Document system processes and maintain system documentation, while also being responsible for capacity planning, disaster recovery, and security measures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience engineering solutions with the IBM Tivoli Netcool Suite, including expertise in Netcool Omnibus and message bus probe/gateway experience.
  • Familiarity with the Apache Kafka Ecosystem, including messaging and log aggregation.
  • Experience in designing fault-tolerant and high-availability systems, along with a Unix background.
  • Knowledge of Netcool Impact Policy writing and XML is advantageous.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk Enterprise, and Microfocus BPM.
  • Experience with OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, including processing, monitoring, and shell scripting.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java and/or .NET.
  • Demonstrated experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring.
  • Understanding of N-Tier Architecture supporting various products.
  • Knowledge of ITIL functions and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and network across multiple levels.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong leadership capabilities and strategic thinking skills.

This position requires a proactive approach and the ability to thrive in a large, multi-data center enterprise environment. A strong business acumen and flexibility are essential for successful adoption of the enterprise monitoring framework.
