Wells Fargo is in search of a Principal Systems Operations Engineer to become an integral part of our Technology Organization within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) team. This role involves taking charge as the Technology Major Incident Commander, where you will be responsible for steering the resolution of incidents that may have reputational, regulatory, compliance, customer, or business implications, necessitating an immediate and coordinated response along with timely communication. You will serve as the lead commander in resolving intricate technical challenges and initiatives related to large-scale applications, systems, databases, or other technical products and services. Collaboration with Incident Communicators, Platform teams, and Business units will be essential in driving resolution efforts. Your contributions will be significant in identifying areas for process enhancements within technical support strategies, ultimately leading to improved system efficiencies and reduced human intervention time on related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the team to achieve technical objectives while utilizing a robust understanding of technical process controls or standards.
- Convert advanced technological expertise and comprehensive knowledge of the organization's tactical and strategic business goals into technical engineering solutions.
- Offer vision, direction, and expertise to senior management on the implementation of innovative and impactful business solutions.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies, recommending innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive edge.
- Engage strategically with professionals and managers at all levels across the organization, serving as an expert advisor to leadership.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members regarding guidebook updates and lead the team in meeting technical objectives.
- Collaborate with vendors and technical personnel to resolve issues and ensure optimal systems and infrastructure availability.
- Review and assess moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to guarantee high levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Contribute to enhancing system efficiencies and minimizing human intervention time on related tasks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with business and technology partners to facilitate rapid Major Incident recovery.
- Utilize independent judgment to analyze performance trends and suggest process improvements while developing an understanding of technical process controls or standards, acting as an internal consultant for tools and processes.
- 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture, or equivalent through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education.
- 5+ years of experience in application production support, managing command centers, or major incident management.
- 3+ years of experience in complex issue resolution.
- 2+ years of experience in technology delivery and relationship management with various business units in a large corporate setting.
- Experience in command center operations or Major Incident management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Service Now or similar platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux Server OS, Network & routing topology, and IT Support fundamentals.
- Understanding of physical and virtual server technology fundamentals.
- Experience with Cloud technologies.
- Experience working in an Agile team environment.
- Utilize independent judgment to analyze performance trends and recommend process improvements while developing an understanding of technical process controls or standards.
- Act as an internal consultant regarding the use of tools and processes.
- Be open to flexible hours and on-call support in a 24x7 command center environment.
- Initial work schedule includes 10-hour shifts with varying schedules.
- Willingness to work on-site as per in-office expectations.
- This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
