Role Summary and Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) play a crucial role in patient care within the perioperative environment by assisting surgical teams before, during, and after procedures. As a vital member of the surgical team, Surgical Technologists make significant contributions to patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a sterile environment.
  • Prepare the Operating Room by setting up sterilized instruments, positioning patients, and assisting with gowns and gloves.
  • Support the surgical team by passing instruments, fluids, and supplies, holding retractors, and preparing equipment as needed.
  • Ensure accurate counting of all instruments, sponges, and tools.
  • Assist in the transport and transfer of patients.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and principles in all tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Certified Surgical Technician is required.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technician (CST), or equivalent qualifications such as Technician in Surgery (NCCT), or relevant vocational training, or work experience in lieu of a degree.
